
Scrapbooking is used to save creatively on a piece of paper “scraps” of photos, memories and emotions. It originated in 19th century Germany, but the Americans are the ones who made it popular all over the world, even in Italy. What’s it about? It’s a hobby born from the love for paper and it’s a way of wrapping gifts in an original and creative way. Scrapbooking means telling a story, capturing the memory of a person, of an event through albums hand-decorated.
As all Scrappers know, there aren’t rules to it. Ideas can be many, all it takes is having imagination and good taste. To start you’ll need: cardboard sheets, scissors and glue. Apart from paper, you can use all sorts of materials like cork, scraps of cloth and old buttons. A very common use of scrapbooking is for photo albums. What better way to treasure a memory than to frame pictures with custom decorations? Other than paper, coloured ribbons and buttons can be used to make frames for the pictures. With the same technique you can create birthday cards, or invitations to parties and events. This way everybody will appreciate your originality. All you need now is to try it out and lose yourself to this wonderful hobby.
